An Essential Question is one for which no single correct answer comes easy. It is a question that persists among adult practitioners of a discipline. It is a question that can lead to reasoned discussions from many points of view. It is these types of questions that I build my art curriculum upon. I want my students to think for themselves and come up with answers that not only ring true to their own experiences but will lead them to new  experiences.
