Advanced Placement Studio Art

Advanced Placement Studio Art
Devote 2 periods a day for two semesters to preparing a portfolio to submit to the College Board to demonstrate your ability to work at a college freshmen level in Drawing, 2-d Design or 3-d Design. Your work will include reading, research, teacher directed assignments, and the development of a concentration of work unified by an idea or problem you have selected and developed over time. While the “class” is largely independent and physically concurrent with other classes being taught, there will be small group meetings scheduled with other AP students and the teacher TBA outside of class time. Additional expenses for your art materials, photography of your work, will be incurred. The college board rates your portfolio of slides and actual work, considering breadth, depth and quality. Based on your rating, your prospective college or university may allow you to waive some introductory art classes. Fees are charged by the College Board for the submission and evaluation of your portfolio. Some fees may be waived by the College Board for students meeting specific financial criteria.
