FAQ for Parents
Does my student have homework?
You may down load copies of the choice homework overview, tool for coming up with one’s own ideas, summary of key concepts in each of the elements and principles of design and the turn in sheet for homework. See right hand menu “homework”
Is there extra credit my student can do?
The choice homework essentially acts as extra credit, especially if the student obviously goes beyond the suggested 1 hour per homework in scope and/or quality.
Is there a textbook or reading my student should be doing?
We do not have a text book in my art classes. I have created a work book, however, that introduces the basic vocabulary and uses of the elements and principles of design according to the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRS) in the Arts.
I have uploaded copies of the pages of the class work book that introduces each of the elements of design. These may be down loaded, printed, completed and turned in. This will be useful if your student has missed class on the days that we have done the work book page together in class. See right hand menu “work book”.
What else is on the website?
You may find overviews of the courses, special events, interesting articles that I have found and wish to share.
In the BlogRoll there are some links to excellent sites for learning about the arts. These I hope will be informative not only for students but for any one curious about the arts.
As I become more proficient with the soft ware I hope to add galleries of examples student work.
This is an oil pastel piece I did inspired by a trip out to Hoko Beach up by Neah Bay. My son was surfing and our family was camping there during Makah days a few years ago.
